Iridium satellite linked GPS buoy

In October 2012, in addition to the 500 drift arrows that will be launched from Healy, an Iridium sattelite linked GPS buoy will will be deployed on an ice floe along with some drift arrows.  This will allow near realtime tracking of the ice as it moves through the artic, transporting the arrows in the Arctic drift.

The buoy was donated to the project by www.Pacificgyre.com

Thank you.
